AnĀ article from MediaGuardian on HBO, as it stands today.
Among the first group (my friends), the attitude seemed to be: HBO? Television? Don’t be so uncool. And among her friends: HBO? Too expensive. And uncool.
If I were HBO, I’d find this alarming.
I don’t think there has been a noticeable decline in programming at my favourite channel, just a shift in attitudes towards paying for Television. HBO, much like the BBC in the UK are one of the few that could blaze a trail by trying something new. Selling their programming direct via the web in HD, complete with mobile/tablet apps for a price of their choosing would put their destiny in their own hands.
